Around 1,000 students, parents, and teachers from across the state of Florida gathered last week in front of the state capitol building to protest state budget cuts to K-12 education in an event organized by the Florida Parent Teacher Association. Middle school, high school, and college students all made the trip to Tallahassee to meet with state legislators, collect petition signatures, and rally against budget cuts that could jeopardize access to and quality of education for Florida’s students. Students at the University of Florida are planning a follow up rally on campus, teaming up with faculty to protest higher education budget cuts.
