The ninth annual college recycling competition, Recyclemania! is kicking off on 409 campuses across the country in the next few weeks. The competition spans 10 weeks where students collect and sort all of their recyclables and trash from dorms, dining halls and any university buildings. Competing schools advance in the competition by having the most recyclable material and the least trash. Recyclemania! started in Ohio in 2001 when two students sought ways to reduce dining hall waste and organized a direct competition between Ohio University and Miami University.
