This past Tuesday marked the day of remembrance for our nation’s heroes in uniform. At the University of Florida a panel of veterans discussed their experiences, ranging from battles to being held prisoner. UCLA held a memorial, which included a fighter jet fly over. At the University of Kansas ROTC members helped to organize events to raise student awareness about the lifestyle of the student solider. MTV is taking a stand for Veterans rights by launching the Bill of Rights for American Veterans (BRAVE) petition aimed at urging President-elect Barack Obama to raise awareness and support for veterans’ issues. Ludacris and 50 Cent played a concert to promote the petition, which has already garnered 60,000 signatures by Veterans Day. Many schools closed so their students could observe the holiday privately.
