In a candid interview with the Daily Orange, Syracuse University Dean David Potter alleges that he and other administrators were phased out of employment due to their involvement in an on-campus rape case. The case implicates three Syracuse Division I basketball players. Potter asserts gross negligence on the part of the university and points at a cover up, he believes that his reopening of the case on the victims’ behalves made waves. He told Daily Orange reporter Melanie Hicken “I knew immediately, I might get fired over it…. But I knew what I had to do.” Potter was forced to take an early retirement and was then asked to sign a contract saying that he would keep information about the University private. Potter refused to sign the agreement and therefore he will not be receiving his six months of retirement pay.
