In the midst of a controversial war and an historic election, the issues of military service and support are hot button issues. After being called out on national television by Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, Columbia University and other universities with records of banning ROTC from operating and recruiting on their campuses are reconsidering their longstanding and controversial policies, many of which date back to the Vietnam War.
