Tensions that might normally exist between Muslim and Jewish communities on campus have no place at Princeton University, where Jewish and Muslim student communities have forged a friendly and integrated relationship. Last Friday students from the Muslim Students Association and the Center for Jewish Life held an interfaith Shabbat dinner, set to be an informal, relaxing and comfortable atmosphere where students chatted and learned more about each others’ cultures. The Jewish students who organized the dinner made certain to accommodate their Muslim guests and served grape juice instead of wine, as Islam forbids the consumption of alcohol. The students said they hoped the dinner would further foster the friendship between the two communities, and would spread their message of unity across campus. Read more from Princeton University |
