The University of North Carolina’s student body president, Eve Carson, was shot and killed last Wednesday early in the morning as she withdrew money from an ATM. Just hours before, Auburn University freshman Lauren Burk was found on the side of an Alabama road fatally shot, and died hours later in the local hospital. As students from UNC, Auburn, and campuses across the country recovered from the shock of these random acts of violence, the issue of campus safety is again at the forefront.
