In a blow to the highly visible work of the University of Chicago’s chapter of STAND (Students Taking Action Now: Darfur), the administration of the University of Chicago has announced it will not divest from companies whose business supports the ruling regime in Darfur. Instead of committing to Darfur divestment, the University announced the creation of a $200,000 fund to support student and faculty work on the Darfur conflict and other international crises.
