Student Activist Receives National Recognition

Mark Dlugash, a 20-year-old sophomore at Swarthmore College, is the co-founder of the Global Health Forum, a nonpartisan, educational organization that raises awareness on global health issues such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, poverty, and violence. Currently the group is working on an anti-malaria campaign to raise awareness and provide treatment in Uganda. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to society, Mark was recently named a 2008 Academic Allstar by USA Today, and was awarded $2,500. Mark hopes that, with the prize money, he and the group can make the malaria campaign sustainable.
