Student Government Supports Walkout
Date: 11/17/2008 05:28 pm
The Rutgers College Governing Association passed a resolution in favor of the Great Rutgers Walkout, a student demonstration against the War in Iraq. For some, the resolution prompted questions over whether student governments should show or suggest favor for political parties or issues—especially those that are hotly debated. Still others worried that the resolution’s passage could give the impression that the entire body is against the war, when in fact the resolution did not pass unanimously. Still, there is wide support of the walkout at Rutgers University, with several hundred students giving online confirmation of their intent to walk out.
