Due to frustrations over media coverage of the presidential election, Columbia College students formed the Students for Media Reform of Columbia College. The group’s aim is to educate and empower students about media issues surrounding politics and to inspire them to get involved. The group sprang up after students attended the National Conference for Media Reform in Minneapolis last June. "We want [to see] more of what's being done from real people, rather than what the core organization thinks they should be doing," group president Kevin Gosztola said. "We want to show people what they can do by being their own media."
