Students are carrying on the work of Chauncey Baily, a
reporter for the Oakland Post who was killed this summer while investigating
the Your Black Muslim Bakery.  The
bakery, a neighborhood institution long praised for civic responsibility, has
come under recent and increasing scrutiny for criminal conspiracy, and members
were arrested in connection with Bailey’s murder.  Students began working on the project as
volunteers and some are now receiving university credit for it.
