Student Runs for City Council

University of Kentucky sophomore Daniel Burton is running for a seat on the Lexington-Fayette Urban Council representing the 3rd district – which includes most of the university. Daniel made the decision after working on several successful political campaigns, including Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear, and Mayor Jim Newberry. A native of Lexington, Burton’s top priorities include improving the sewer systems, reducing the city’s carbon footprint, and preparing the city for the 2010 World Equestrian Games. In the long term Burton hopes to promote economic development and create more job opportunities in Lexington to encourage students to stay.
