Student Vote Work

In Maryland, both the University Senate and the State Senate are considering measures to simplify student voter registration. In the capitol, Sen. Jim Rosapepe has introduced a bill that would require the 11 state colleges and universities to simplify voter registration methods. Measures include providing all freshmen the opportunity to register to vote when they register for class. The University Senate bill is comparable, and is intended to institute certain aspects of the bill whether or not it passes statewide. In another interesting proposal, the legislation would establish a permanent university residence for students, eliminating a need to for students to re-register when they move within the campus.
