About 20 members of Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA), who were mostly food workers, staged a sit-in in the street just outside the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. The student workers were demonstrating for the right to join the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, or AFSCME, Local 3299.
