The rising cost of gas is taking its toll on campuses, which are responding by increasing campus parking tickets, raising public transportation fees, and cutting back on programs ranging from shuttle schedules to flight schools. Some students are looking to the Senate to pass the Consumer-First Energy Act this week, which is intended to prioritize consumers over big business owners, and will invest money into renewable energy sources. Many schools are cutting back individual departments’ fuel intake, but few have established school-wide plans for reducing gas usage.
