The Evergreen State College chapter of Students for a Democratic
Society was suspended by the university administration this spring for
holding an anti-war panel and concert. Administrators temporarily
banned concerts on campus after a riot following a Dead Prez concert
caused over $44,000 in damage. SDS claims the administration was
evasive about why the event could not be held and that their free
speech rights are being violated. The students appealed and won a
reduced but not abolished sentence and began a sit-in shortly
thereafter outside the office of Art Costantino, the Vice President for
Student Affairs.
