Date: 11/17/2008 4:28 pm

35 student representatives from the University of South Carolina’s Greek organizations traveled to Washington D.C. to lobby for The Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2007. The act would allow organizations to make tax-deductible donations to social clubs such as fraternities and sororities; donations that could be used for housing improvements such a fire safety systems. The students took advantage of Campus Fire Safety Week to travel to the district and lobby for the bill, hoping to raise awareness about fire safety during the one-year anniversary of the Ocean Isle Beach fire that kill seven students last fall.
