Students Participate in May Day Immigration Protests

Date: 11/17/2008 05:28 pm

Students across the country marched and demonstrated at rallies in support of immigrants' rights on the historical May Day. Students at Northwestern University traveled to Chicago to take part in its march, and students at Cornell University, the University of California Santa Barbara, the University of Wisconsin Madison, and the University of Illinois marched and rallied near their own campuses. Students at Princeton University were notably quiet on May Day, circulating petitions, posting flyers, and hosting discussions, in contrast with last year's large rally. At the University of California Davis, protesters shut down the College Republicans’ game of “Illegal Immigration Capture the Flag,” surrounding the quad and blocking their path.
