Two students at the University of Florida are working on behalf of the Student Campaign for Public Service (SCPC) are collecting signatures on a national petition asking 2008 presidential candidates to increase funding for public service organizations. SCPC aims to present the petition to the candidates in April with at least 50,000 signatures. The petition was created in response to the meager funding available to public service programs, and hopes to raise awareness and interest among college students. So far students from over 20 universities nationwide have pledged to collect signatures. Read more from the University of Florida |
