Students Protest Faculty and Staff Firings

Two weeks ago a group of 30 students at the non-traditional Martin University in Indianapolis – which serves adult, minority, and low-income students – held a protest over the dismissal of university employees. Student protestors allege that since founder Rev. Hardin’s retirement last year and subsequent succession by new President Dr. Algeania Freeman this year, over half of the faculty have been dismissed unfairly. Over the past few months, students have been circulating petitions against the slew of faculty firings that have taken place. The recent firing of a popular professor sparked the protest.
