October was host to another, less controversial, awareness event: Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Students across the country participated primarily through fundraising for breast cancer research and support organizations.  These efforts raised tens of thousands of dollars, and across the country students raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through many different methods, including tabling for donations, date-auctions, dances and walkathons.
