Along with Super Tuesday’s political excitement came one of nature’s most feared forces: tornadoes. Throughout the southern U.S more than 50 people lost their lives when over 80 tornadoes swept through Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and other areas, destroying nearly everything in their paths. One of the hardest hit areas was Union University in Tennessee, where 51 students were injured and at least 17 buildings were destroyed. A second round of tornadoes in the south injured nearly 30 people again this past Sunday, and subjected parts of the Midwest to freezing rain, hail, snow and flooding. As a result, the past few weeks have been difficult for southern college and university students far away from home.
