Student governments at both Colorado State University Campuses — Pueblo and Fort Collins — have approved legislation asking for voting rights on the CSU Board of Governors (BOG). Currently the two campus presidents of each Associated Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU) have ex-officio seats on the BOG. Seth Walter, the Director of Legislative Affairs for ASCSU Fort Collins, drafted of the bid. As the BOG is governed by state statute, Walter is seeking support and sponsorship from state lawmakers for a bill during the upcoming legislative session. Walter attests that 25 per cent of all public universities have voting rights for students on their equivalent boards. ASCSU Fort Collins President Taylor Smoot expressed his frustration over the current procedure. "We don't want just to be heard," he said, "we want to participate in the shared governance process."
