Students Speak Out Against Sexual Assault
The Men Against Rape group at North Carolina State University will display 14,000 flags around campus to represent the female population at NCSU. One in every four flags is red, to represent the one in every four females who will experience sexual assault and rape during her lifetime. The Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at George Washington University raised more than $2,000 for the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network as part of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month. Students at Indiana University held an event entitled “Stand Up and Be Counted” to raise awareness of sexual assault and the Middle Way House, a center that is trying to change the lives of women and children who are affected by sexual assault and domestic violence. Students at Iowa State University, the University of Alabama, and the University of Massachusetts Boston participated in Take Back the Night, bringing together men, women, and children to stand against sexual assault and sexual violence.
