Over the past two weekends, students across the country
volunteered their time and raised money to fight hunger and homelessness on the
local, national and international
level. Coordinated through the National
Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, the event has so far raised 70,000
dollars, included over 2000 volunteers, and was held on 100 campuses. Many of the events were organized through
local Student PIRG chapters, which ranged in size from a small group of
students to hundreds of students.
Currently, Fairfield
University has held the
largest event which included close to 500 volunteers and raised close to
$10,000, though Creighton, which is hosting their cleanup this upcoming
weekend, may top that.
