The Race Issue that Wasn’t
The Smith College Sophian ran a unique set of editorial articles this week. The Sophian solicited articles on race for a special stand-alone issue to be called, aptly, The Race Issue. They didn’t receive enough submissions, however, and so ran the few articles they did receive within their March 8th issue. Along with that content (in and of itself valuable—and applicable to many environments beyond Smith’s campus), the Sophian’s Opinions Editor Julia Reed considers the implications of the lack of submissions on a topic she is certain students care about—but are, perhaps, afraid to speak publicly on.
