The Return of Separate but Equal?

More than 200 Howard University
students led a protest against the Supreme Court’s decision to hear two
controversial cases this week. Many in the African-American community view the
decision to hear the two cases, Community
Schools v. Seattle School
District Number One and Meredith v. Jefferson County Board of Education, as an
attempt to chip away at desegregation. The protest, which began at 5:45 am (now
that’s dedication), grew to several
hundred people by midday. The similarly controversial civil rights group By Any
Means Necessary helped the many concerned Howard University
student groups to organize the protest.
