Because of steep budget cuts in the California state budget, students in California face possible large tuition increases next year.  Thousands of students- estimates range from one to three thousand - gathered in Sacramento to protest the cuts and lobby their legislators.  The effort was coordinated by Students for California’s Future, a newly formed coalition of the statewide student government associations of California’s three higher education systems.
