Town/Gown Relations Stressed at Columbia

Columbia University’s Black History Month Education Committee organized a panel of Harlem activists working against the University’s current Manhattanville expansion plans. Panelists stressed their desire for students to be involved in questioning the school’s plans. Alternative development schemes have been proposed, which many feel are more community friendly. Panelists also said the surrounding black community needs to voice its interests to the powers at Columbia.
