University to Buy Out Professor’s Tenure

In an unusual move, Washington State University will buy out the tenure (yup, like baseball) of a professor facing trial for alleged sexual harassment. The professor in question invited a graduate student to his home
and allegedly offered her help pursuing her doctorate degree in exchange for
beginning a romantic relationship with him. In the buyout deal, the professor
(who does lose some of his retirement benefits and incentives) will receive $87,328.24
and legal representation from the University in exchange for severing his ties
with the school.
