Vagina Monologues Lead to Dialogue

Law students at the University of New Mexico put on the popular performance piece "The Vagina Monologues," to raise money for women in need. Ten percent of the play's proceeds went to V-Day, an international organization aimed at ending violence against women, while the remaining 90 percent went to the Urban Indian Advocacy Program, a nonprofit organization that offers support to women who have been physically, sexually or emotionally abused. Students at the University of South Carolina also put on a version of the play to raise awareness and open up discussion on campus about violence against women.
