Virginia Students Advocate for Stricter Gun Laws

In the continuing aftermath of the Virginia Tech shootings, more than 30 University students participated in a protest at the Virginia State Capitol to advocate for tighter gun laws. Participants appealed to state legislators to close the gun show loophole through which certain gun show vendors are not required to conduct background checks on their customers. Protesting students feel that this faulty background check system was what enabled Virginia Tech shooter Seung-Hui Cho to obtain a gun despite being deemed a danger because of mental illness.
