Max Karson was arrested for making allegedly threatening comments during a class discussion of the Virginia Tech massacre. Friends say he has a “tongue in cheek, twisted sense of humor” and “has everyone’s best interest at heart.” His underground, satirical publication The Yeti, which Karson hands out personally on campus, routinely sparks controversy over a variety of issues. The satire did not translate well into discussion when Karson said he could understand how someone would want to kill 32 people and how the walls and lighting of the university might set him off. His father claims he was arrested mainly for The Yeti and his constant criticism of the University and chancellor. He also says that his son was simply trying to remind people not to dehumanize the gunman.
