Volunteerism Gets By With a Little Help from Its Friends

A group of students at Brigham Young University were inspired to form Giving Back: Students in Philanthropy after listening to a presentation by the United Way. The group raised more than $10,000 in their first event, co-hosted by the United Way of Utah County. Two students at the University of Minnesota were discouraged by the high costs of volunteering abroad, so they started a group that helps University students raise the funds to travel abroad to volunteer.
