Xavier Chen, a freshman USG Representative at Loyola University, asked if he could have one of several packaged sandwiches that a food service worker was in the process of throwing away. He couldn’t have one—but that’s not what made him angry. As he continued watching the worker throw away more perfectly packaged food, he decided Loyola wasted too much. Now Rep. Chen and Vice-President of the Justice Committee Paul Nappier, along with Loyola’s chapter of Food Not Bombs, are working to decrease the amount of food thrown away at the school.
