Student
interns working with MassPIRG are organizing river cleanups on an ongoing basis
and in cooperation with Massachusetts Community Water Watch. One student who
organized river clean up described it as an opportunity to protect and impove
waterways while educating the public and meeting likeminded individuals.
Massachussetts waterways suffer from mercury pollution, storm drain runoff and
a loss of buffer zones. If you don’t know what buffer zones are or what mercury
pollution does, take heart! Anthony Bondi, the MassPIRG intern working on the
project next semester, plans to concentrate more on education. (Or, you could
read the article).
