Youth voter turnout doubled, tripled, or quadrupled expected turnouts in nearly every state holding their primary on Super Tuesday, proving again that young people across America are actively taking an interest in their country’s future. In many states youth turnout was well above the margin of victory. Youth voter turnout was so high that it caused significant delays at polling locations across California, the biggest contender in Super Tuesday’s primaries. At Stanford some students waited hours in line to cast their votes, while several other polls including those near the University of Southern California and the University of California Berkeley actually ran out of Democratic ballots and had to use provisional ballots instead. In an attempt to reconcile the mayhem several polls stayed open an extra few hours.
